Two New Pediatric Stories: Nerve Blockades and Blood Clots
I have two stories in the most recent issue of Pediatrics Nationwide. In the first, researchers provide guidance for identifying pediatric cancer patients most at risk for blood clots and choosing the best preventative treatment. Read the whole story here: How to Identify and Treat Blood Clots in Pediatric Patients with Cancer. In the second, I report on a study that shows a regional anesthetic technique called femoral nerve blockade is as effective as intravenous opioids in treating pain following surgical repair of femur fractures in children. See the story here: Femoral Nerve Blockade May Reduce Need for Intravneous Opioids.
