The human brain is immensely complex, comprising billions of neurons and trillions of neuronal connections. It is the behavior of neurons that produces our thoughts, feelings, and actions. But understanding how the activity of neurons and their organization into circuits can explain our experience of the world has been a challenging question to answer.I discuss SfN president Hollis Cline's research on how the brain develops in this year's Annual Report: Exploring How Sensory Experience Shapes the Developing Brain.
