Targeting Drugs to Specific Neurons

Scientists have devised a homing system to deliver drugs to specific types of neurons in the brain. The method, named DART (Drugs Acutely Restricted by Tethering), works by genetically programming a specific cell type to express an enzyme borrowed from bacteria. The enzyme acts as a sort of GPS beacon, capturing drugs loaded with a complementary homing device.Read more about it at Bioengineering Today: New Technique Targets Drugs to Specific Neurons.
